Cairo
Cairo is the ancestral homeland of my father’s family so maybe I’m a little biased, but Cairo truly is one of the greatest cities on Earth. The mystic call of the thousand call to prayers ringing throughout the city at dawn every morning. Waking up to the smell of the bakers baking fresh bread. Attempting to cross the street with your life dodging cars, camels, and Cairo pedestrians alike. The busy markets selling everything from goats heads to hookahs. The INCREDIBLE food, everything from the best koshary, fresh fried taamiyas, ful medames from the street stalls, and shawarma roasted on spits. To outsiders, Cairo may seem scary. A little crazy, a little chaotic, and a little dangerous but that’s part of its beautiful character. Dig deep enough and you will find the ancient beating heart in this eternal city.
